The rooms at this property were very clean. I travel quite often on business and will not stay at a property if I can tell they are not taking care of it. However, I can tell that management definitely cares. The staff treated me as though I were family, and remembered my name from previous stays. I will definitely stay here whenever doing business in the Bay Area.

I stay in a Lagoon Room 4 months out of the year, my rooms are consistently clean and well stocked with towels with a view of the lagoon and Oakland Hills. Having a private patio comes in handy for relaxation after a hectic day. I like the fact that I have a separate bedroom and a full kitchen with dining table. However, if you wanted to go out and eat, the area has some of the best eateries you could possibly ask for (and most in walking distance). The location of The Coral Reef and access to Oakland and San Fran is unparalled to anywhere in the Bay area. The staff are always friendly and the check-in process is easy, day or night. The value is extremely hard to beat compared to the area. As a frequent business traveler, this is by far, the most accommodating hotel I have found in the Bay Area.

I booked my reservation 6 months early and when I arrived they said my reservation had been cancelled. I had paid in full for my room ahead of time and NEVER cancelled my reservation! We asked how this could have happened and the man behind the desk said that they had recieved a fax from our travel agent that I was cancelling...we asked to see the fax, they couldn't find it. The man behind the desk was very cold and acted the entire time like it wasn't his problem and "tough luck". Our travel agent tried to fix it by telling them we are confirmed for the room and the man behind the desk said they had no more of the "standard rooms" available. We had to be "upgraded" to the lagoon suite. The suite was terrible! We originally booked a room with 2 beds, ended up with a room with a bed and a sleeper sofa...not very comfy. The lagoon was not beautiful as I had pictured it...the view on the other side is nothing but run-down homes. The carpet is really gross...it was difficult to take off my shoes and walk with my socks since it was gross looking. Three nights into our stay, our door keys stopped working...there was no explanation as to why.

I booked and paid extra for an executive suite, but when I checked in, they put me in a standard room, stating they were booked up and that I should call back tomorrow. The standard room had a filthy carpet, toenail clippings on the rug, and trash in the drawer of the nightstand. After I called the next day, they did not have an executive suite and instead put me in a "lagoon suite" which is supposed to be better, so they refused to credit me for the prior night when I paid for a suite but only got a standard room. The lagoon suite did not have 2 beds -- only one bed and a sofa bed. When I asked for a suite with 2 beds, they said they didn't have one. Also the "lagoon" we had a view of was bright green and looked like radioactive sewage. I stayed at this hotel once before and thought it was OK, but now it has completely lost my respect with its horrible customer service and its refusal to honor my reservation. DO NOT STAY HERE.
