Bought a package vacation through a online travel website which included six nights at the Surfside Motel in Daytona Beach 06/01/09. I have never stayed in a hotel much like this one. It not only smells bad ( like cat pee) the carpet is so dirty that when you get in the shower your feet are litterally black. There is not a Tiki bar or restaurant which it advertizes as having. The only plus to the motel is it does have a large pool area. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it a 2. It was rated 3 stars by Allegiantair. I would give it a 1 star. I will conclude by saying if someone paid for my vacation and I had to stay at surfside I would refuse.

My stay was really nice! Granted, it?s not a luxury hotel ? but the price and location was worth it. Room was extremely clean, microwave and refrigerator looked new, balcony door worked, no mildew or cigarette burns! The hotel was right on the beach, with a pool overlooking the ocean. Red Lobster, Denny?s, I-HOP & 7-11 are right across the street. A shame that the restaurant and bar was not open, but there were many places to go within walking distance. I was able to check in an hour early with no problem, and I requested a late 1pm checkout. X, our bright, friendly front desk person was an absolute pleasure, and even waived the $10 charge for the late checkout since we checked out at noon. That $5 parking fee? You get to park in the covered area right outside the door where the elevators are - they even provide luggage carts so you don't have to carry anything. All in all - we had a wonderful time.

Rooms were below average. Paid extra for oceanfront and was very disapointed with the condition of the balcony. Room was fair but bathroom was a joke. Paint flaking off walls toilet ran and the bottom of the showers enamel was pealing up. I spent three nights there and would not go back. Pool area was very messey and pool was very dirty as the seaguls seem to use it all day as a bath and nobody seems to care from the hotel.

08/04/2008If you look at the pictures at the website you think it's a great deal but they are totally outdated. the hotel needs urgent renovation.
