Wonderful place to stay! Best Western is right on the waterfrount of the San Diego bay. A lot of sailing boats, cruise ships and navel vessels use this harbor. Nice walking area as well as a large fishing pier. Close to several nice restruants. Hotel room was nice - with a vaulted ceiling with a large ceiling fan. Large flate screen TV, kingsize bed that was quite confortable. Bathroom was very attractive. Cleaning folks did a good job! This hotel did not serve a free breakfast. We assumed they did have a coffee bar in the morning - but did not (this was our only complaint. We will return to this hotel again.

beautiful hotel, but had a mix up with our daughters room, she was getting married, and was supposed to have the room they gave us, the front desk said that as soon as our room was availabe( the day of her wedding) they would have it cleaned and move us over. well, didn't happen, check out was at 11am, and we could not change rooms until 4pm. big hassle with everything else going on that day. very annoying!!!!!!!!! had booked there atleast 5 months in advance!

We certainly enjoyed our stay at the Shelter Island Palms. The location was ideal, the rooms were just fine, the price was fine, the view of the bay from our 2nd floor room was excellent. The on-site restaurant was too pricey for us, but the location of the motel was such that wich our rental car, we found excellent restaurants easily. We have already decided that the Shelter Island Palms will be our choice for our next trip to San Diego. Just no concerns at all. The hot tub was near our room and very well-kept up. They ran out of towels a couple times, but with a call, we got towels delivered.

That's what it is. I guess "Motel and Marina" sounds disconcerting, but that is how it should be listed if the listing is to be truthful. While the setting is lovely, the lobby is lovely, and it has a nice restaurant, the rooms are standard motel fare. Nice tile in the shower cannot mask the fact that the doors open onto the parking lot, and the air conditioner is mounted on the wall. There is certainly a bit of obfuscation on behalf of Best Western on this one. It's a perfectly nice place, and I would probably stay there again, but people ought to know what it really is.
