I went to great lengths BEFORE we got there emailing and calling to confirm over and over that our room would have a true ocean view. After all, that's what I was paying for! My party of 9 was VERY disappointed when we were placed in a room with a view of only sand and no water. I called the front desk, and they told me they were sorry, but there were no other rooms available. I argued, insisted, vowed to write bad reviews, told the I was a repeat guest who might not be again, and produced hard copies of emails promising an ocean view, and much to our surprise, they moved us to another room. It was BEAUTIFUL! The resort is overpriced in many ways. I wish their houskeeping policy was better, but at the end of the day, our family will continue to stay here. We love Destin, and we don't know of any resort there with more activites for the family, better beaches, or nicer rooms. We also love the way the grounds are kept. It's not a great value, but it is a great experience.

Be warned before you book a room at this mega-resort...At check-in, the staff at the resort gave us a snide welcome when they discovered that we had booked the room at Travel online. Then, they put us in a room very far from the beach. Although the resort was mostly empty, they would not offer us a room closer to the beach. The main desk at The Bayside Inn (where the resort actually placed us) was not staffed during our ENTIRE stay. The main door to the front of the property was never locked and did not require your key to gain access. The Bayside Inn was very old and dated; it appears that it has not been remodeled in over 20 years. We will not be staying at this "resort" in the future.

I enjoyed my stay at Sandestin. It was very clean and peaceful. Luved the wharf that was connected to the hotel. Lots of things to do there. The only negative I had was the lack of counter in the bathroom and it was a little pricey for what you got.

For the money , go somewhere else. In our room, noisey A/C, no wash cloths, no bath matt (when you get out of the shower/bath to ptevent from slipping), no small plates so we could put our cups on, dirty rug, stains on walls, floor molding had dents and cracks, no chair to sit in, no desk to put my laptop on, staff was terrible. Ask them a simple question, and they acted like they were deaf' a credit card at check in, when I already paid for the room. I don't like showing my credit card to anyone unless I'm buying something. Go any where else on the strip. Save your money. Hotel 6 gave us better service.

The room we had had no chairs, wash cloths, hand towels, small plates, dirty rug, walls had marks on them, the floor molding had scars in them, ask security or the staff a question, they pay no attention to you. Noisey A/C. Ramada Inn, Best Western or any of the many hotels along the strip at least have a desk in the room and a chair and a bath matt when you get out of the shower. Plus they charged us twice for a absolute joke. If you have money to burn, this is the place to do it
