We were excited about booking an ocean view balcony room, imagining ocean wave sounds as we sipped wine on the balcony. Not ever gonna happen on these hotel balconies! Below all the balconies is the huge flat roof of the dining room with noisy exhaust fans whirring. We walked the beach and drooled as we saw other lodgings with unobstructed balcony ocean front rooms. Also, the suite door in our room, tho we didn't use it, was a conduit for voices from the next room. The good points are that the maid service was excellent, the bed and pillows were very comfortable, and they have free internet access with a printer, great for mapquest. Oh, and one more thing, wish there had been a hot tub.

First of all, the air conditioner units in the rooms are very loud! We could not fall asleep. When the A/C came on, the fan started and then the compressor. Both were loud and annoying. Once they did reach the temp and shut off, you could hear the hum of the fridge's compressor. Arrrg! The pool is way too small for kids. Our daughter was extremely disappointed in the size. It was so crowded. Also, there were other folks partying in the hotel and you could hear them. Another thing I remember is that we were on the 3rd floor, North side. Guess what? On the North side is the huge AC unit for the restaurant and if you open up your balcony doors and walk out onto the cement overhang, you hear this huge monstrousity and thus the ocean is drowned out. The interior of the lobby is pretty. The restaurant is nice looking, although, no one ate there. A total of four familys ate there the night we were there. We kept looking around and were asking, "where is everyone else eating"? We thought the whole Cocoa Beach strip was industrial and dirty looking. This seemed like more of a Spring Break area where kids have just torn this town apart. I expected much more being so close to Orlando. If I were you and you had a family, I would not stay at this hotel. Find a hotel that has a huge pool or water feature. Your kids will be happier. Yes, your kids will play in the ocean, but eventually end up in the pool. I honestly, would not stay at this particular Double-Tree Hotel again. Also, we found security terrible. Hotel was always unlocked as well as pool area.
